Everything You Love About Camp (EYLAC)

Try a little bit of everything at camp, work on a try-it or badge of choice and make new friends along the way.

Nature Nuts

Play outside in nature, take an exploration hike, and visit Idyllwild Nature Center.  Make crafts from nature and put on an animal puppet show.  Plus participate in general camp activities.  Unit sleeps in tents.

Artrageous

Explore the world of art!  Have a chance to try painting, sculpting, jewelry making, sewing, tie-dye, fashion design, cultural arts and crafts, photography, music, choreography, and or drama.  Whatever your interest on talent you can try it.  Put on an art show for your fellow campers.

Gourmet Chef

Experiment with outdoor cooking, indoor cooking, and specialty cooking.  Work with the kitchen staff and learn cooking basics and how to make special treats.  Learn about nutrition and measurement skills.  You will be the chefs and your counselors will be your tasters.

Game On

Every day you will experience and play a different sport.   Learn the rules, skills, and techniques that will make you look like an all star.  You will also have the opportunity to participate in ropes course and other work on team challenges.  Learn about proper stretching, proper nutrition, training and anything else YOU want to know about. Put on Olympic Games at camp.

Girl Scout CSI

Be member of a Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) team and solve the mystery. Decipher all the forensic evidence by checking for fingerprints, identifying clues, decoding secret notes, and testing for foreign objects in the victim’s food and water.  Put the pieces together to solve the mystery. 

Nite Owls

Hoo Hoo can you hear the night owls?  Stay up late exploring camp after hours.  Experience a night hike, go star gazing or have a sleep over party.  As a group choose what you want to do.  Sleep in late and still enjoy general camp activities.

Bike-it, Hike-it, Climb-it, or Swim-it

Learn and Try 1 or all 4 adventures right at camp or on nearby trails.  Learn about the safety requirements, proper gear, learn how to fix a flat tire, orienteering skills, climbing techniques, and cool off in the pool.  Discover new things about yourself while you are reaching to the top of the rock wall or cheering your group on while you make it to the top of AT Peak.   Whether you are a pro or a novice you can have fun at camp as an adventure girl.  (Must bring properly sized bike helmet.)

Master Camper

Learn and practice Outdoor Skills in orienteering, lashing, knot tying, pitching tents, temporary shelters, fire building, outdoor cooking, jack knife safety, trail blazing, first aid.  Learn about Leave No Trace 7 principles.  Campers have option to sleep in tents or under the stars.  Unit sleeps in tents.

Trail Blazers

Learn all about how to plan a backpacking trip and then plan a trip with your unit.  Condition by hiking up to AT peak, participate in outdoor cooking, learn about outdoor survival skills and more.   Girls must b e at leave 85 lbs. to participate.  Campers must supply mummy sleeping bag and sturdy hiking shoes.  Unit sleeps in tents.

Road Trip

Spend the first part of your camp days relaxing and bonding with your friends while you participate in activities planned by your unit.  In your down time work as a team planning your trip.  Spend the last part on a multi-day trip river rafting down the Kern River.  Return to camp the last day for final camp fire. 

Giddy Up! (Beginning)

Introduction to the basics of horses and of riding instruction in the ring and more! Get answers to all of your horse questions.  

Saddle Up! (Beginning/Intermediate)

Emphasis on instruction, ring work and trails rides.  Learn about saddling, grooming, feeding, and basic horse care.

Cowgirl Up! (Intermediate)

Work in improving riding skills in the ring and on the trail.   You will have a chance to spend quality time with the horses.  Take a lead role in the overall care of the horses and planning trail rides.  Feed, groom, and saddle up for a wonderful equestrian adventure at camp.

LEAP

Entering Grades 7-9

Begin to take the leap from camper to counselor in this pre-counselor-in-training leadership program.  You’ll receive training and give service in designated camp program or operation activities.  Plus enjoy the activities camp has to offer as a group.  Opportunity to earn Cadette Program Aid pin and patch.

CIT I

Entering Grades 10-12

Discover and Connect.  Learn more about yourself, talents and how to share them with children.  Explore what the hob of being a camp counselor is all about.  You’ll learn the basics in program planning and teaching skills.

CIT II- (CIT I is prerequisite)

Entering Grades 11-12

Discover, Connect and Take Action. Continue to explore what the challenging and rewarding job of camp counselor is all about.  Utilize your skills that you learned as a CIT I.   Time will be spent developing interpersonal skills, understanding various age groups when program planning and taking action at camp by assisting counselors.
